Job Description
At least 5 years experience in design, development and maintenance of
android apps. Developer with extensive experience on Android Platform,
OOP design patterns and programming skills, web services ideally using
RESTful service integration, and experience of developing applications
with embedded devices.
Reporting line: Development Manager
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Extensive knowledge of Android Application development.
Proven development experience in one or more OOP languages such as Java
Solid background in, and knowledge of OOP design patterns and best practices is essential
Must have extensive experience with following APIs
o Location and Geo-fencing APIs (Knowledge with creating location aware
applications, location services to get periodic current location,
creating and monitoring geo-fences, recognizing user’s current activity)
o Device Compatibility (Knowledge with creating flexible user interface
that adapts to different screen configurations, providing application
configurations that supports many devices using single APK)
o User
Interface (Knowledge with designing application for multiple devices
with multiple resolutions, implementing effective Navigation stack
across application, creating universal application that’s support phone
and tablet with only single APK file)
o Connectivity APIs (Knowledge
with Bluetooth network stack for classic devices, Bluetooth network
stack for Bluetooth Low energy devices, creating and managing multiple
Bluetooth connection)
o Camera APIs (Knowledge with controlling the
camera hardware directly, scanning QR code and Bar codes, Media
Playback, Audio and Video Streaming)
o Data Storage APIs (Knowledge
with Saving persistent application data using System preferences,
Internal Storage, SQLite Database and Network connection, Data backup
APIs with Cloud integration)
o Text and Input APIs (Knowledge with Speech Input APIs, Integrating Speech input capabilities via Android SDK)
o Animations and Graphics (Knowledge with Displaying Bitmaps, Performing Animations on View Objects, OpenGL integration)
o Testing Tools (UI Testing using UIAutomator APIs, monkeyrunner, etc.)
o Google Play Services (Google Cloud Messaging Services, Google Analytical Services)
Must have demonstrable experience and knowledge of JSON, XML Parsing and associated frameworks
Understanding of multithreading
Experience using Source Control (SVN/Git)
Knowledge of media streaming on the Android Platform
Experience developing IP Camera and Video Streaming applications
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with another mobile app developer leading the other platform development
Deliver across the entire app life cycle –concept, design, build, deploy, test, release to app stores and support
Working directly with developers and product managers to conceptualize, build, test and release products
Build prototypes at tech scoping stage of projects
Working with the front end developers to build the interface with focus on usability features
Create compelling device specific user interfaces and experiences
Optimizing performance for the apps
Implementing new features according to need, as well as maintaining
and improving the existing features/code with an incremental and
continuous improvement approach to deliver
Quality should be at
the heart of everything you do. Along with the wider team, you’ll be
responsible for ensuring quality and security of the application.
Help maintain and improve existing application’s UI, code stability and features.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors/ Masters in Science / Electronics/ Electronics and Communications/Computer Science, or related field
plus more than 5 year of relevant work experience from the time the degree is received.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Added Advantage:
Prior Experience with USA or UK based company will be an added advantage
