Job Description
L&T Infotech invites applications from Teradata DBA.
Location:Pune
Monitoring the ongoing Production Batch job activities, and keeping a close look on Blockings, delays, Long running jobs consuming lot of CPU and IO.
Tracking the daily CPU and IO usage data from the database history logs using either PDCR or by writing custom SQL scripts to find out the suspect queries, long running queries, AWT usage, AMPUSAGE CPU and IO, Resource Usage history
Analyzing the performance data from the PDCR reports and responding quickly on the possible reasons for the delays and what can be done to avoid in future [ Load user WINDOW]
Looking at the monthly resource consumption for the LOAD jobs & finding out the monthly LOAD user consumption
Performing improvement in the LOAD jobs and sending out the information to developer team on possible savings (CPU/IO and CODE improvements)
Tracking the performance value adds and projecting to the stakeholders on weekly or monthly basis
Monitoring the Space growth for the load jobs and placing the compression on the column values
Performing the physical implementation optimizations for the tables, such as addition of Join Indexes, Sparse Join Indexes, Aggregate Join indexes, Primary Indexes, SKEW removal
Looking at the usage for the Indexes and sending it to the onsite team for raising the ticket to drop those indexes which are not being used for longer time
Sending out the changes to the physical structure to the data modelers with proper explanations and the value additions
Helping the development team for extracting out the performance metrics of their current developments for ETL or BI reporting using COGNOS tool and suggesting the BEST practices in order to make it more better
Facilitating the BI optimization work and helping the team to gather the required input from the database side
ADHOC workload optimization to keep the response time of reporting and ETL user intact
Looking at the system workload and providing the inputs to the BI-Architecture team for placing the platform specific standards on the share repository
Providing TASM related changes & sending them to the CORE DA team to implement
